Meet the king of the road. With the new Road Premium our engineers and designers at SCOTT made the next step and created a new and fresh Road shoe for the demanding cyclist. With feedback directly out of the Pro Peleton from the Tour de France stage-winners Thibaut Pinot and Sandy Casar, among 30 other riders, keeping their wish list in mind, we pushed the limits further with a lightweight racing shoe evolution of the 2013 Road Premium.
The goal of the bicolor concept, which we also bring on other shoes in our line, was to create a new form of language for SCOTT cycling footwear. The more fluid design from toe to heel with striking brand presence stands out in the peleton.
The inspiration for this concept is the dual nature of performance and endurance. We want the rider to be able to perform at maximum levels for hours, days & weeks at a time. The be at your best at the limit you need to be efficient, comfortable, free of pain, not having to think about nor question your equipment. Knowing that your gear will be durable and dependable is essential for success. How do we stand out in a sea of white shoes and have a visual brand presence in the peleton? With a new form language, brand identity and split personality as well as graphic we can stand above.
Luke Fryer, Senior Industrial Designer at SCOTT Sports: “The New Road Premium is more an evolution than a revolution. We worked hard to incorporate the rider’s feedback and details into the new collection. We have new Boa systems with more fine movement. A ratchet buckle normally has about 4mm of travel with each click, the new Boa pulls 1mm of cable per click. That is really fine adjustment and you can do it on the fly. We have selected some different materials for different shoes to better achieve the fit requirements of each shoe and added reinforcements to strengthen the high performance uppers.”
